So here are the questions (consider positive factors only i.e. not negative numbers):
1) Is 7 a factor of 21?
Answer: Yes, 21 can be divided by 7 i.e. 3 x 7 = 21 without any remainder (digits after the decimal point).
2) Is 9 a factor of 20?
Answer: No, 20 divided by 9 is 2 remainder 2 so it does not divide exactly and therefore is not a factor of 20.
3) What are the positive factors of the number 20?
Answer: 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 and 20.
4) What are the prime factors of the number 20?
Answer: 2 and 5 - these are all the factors of 20 that are also prime numbers i.e. can only be divided by 1 or themselves.
5) What is the Greatest Common Factor of the numbers 50 and 100?
Answer: 50 - as 50 is the highest factor of itself and it is also a factor of the number 100.
6) Is 8 a factor of 56?
Answer: Yes - 7 x 8 = 56.
7) What are the positive factors of the number 30?
Answer: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15 and 30.
8) What is the Greatest Common Factor of the numbers 13 and 41?
Answer: 1 - the only factors of the number 13 are 1 and itself. 13 does not divide exactly into 41. 41 does of course divide by 1 and hence 1 is the only and hence the Greatest Common Factor of the numbers 13 and 41.
9) Is 17 a factor of the number 51?
Answer: Yes - 17 x 3 = 51.
10) Is 5 a factor of the number 15?
Answer: Yes - 3 x 5 = 15 i.e. it divides exactly.
